Oregon Sports – When Will Football And College Sports Return To Oregon?

If you’re an sports fan like me, you know that 2020 has been a tough year for sports because due to Covid-19, college sports have been shut down this year as the focus has been on battling the pandemic.

As we approach September, most sports fans are wondering when college football and sports are going to return to the state of Oregon. In this article we will answer this question and provide you with insight into when we can expect college sports to return to our state.

When Will Oregon Sports Return?

The University Of Oregon – As of August 11th, 2020, the Pac-12 has announced that all sports will be postponed until early January 2021 if Coronavirus cases continue to decline.

If we see a second wave of cases arise during the winter, this could delay the start of sports at the University of Oregon until next spring at the latest.

The good news is that athletes are working out on campus so once sports resume at the University of Oregon it’s likely that players will be able to bounce back into competition.

Portland State University – Fall sports are postponed until spring 2021 but some athletic activities have been allowed to continue.

University of Portland – The good news is that the men’s and women’s basketball seasons are still going to happen for 2020 but volleyball, cross country, and soccer are postponed until at least next spring.

What About The Conferences?

As of August 20th, 2020, all major conferences including the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, Northwest Conference, and Cascade Collegiate Conference have been canceled or postponed.

The good thing is that most conferences and universities are anticipating returning to normal sports schedules as early as Spring 2021 so we will likely see a return to full sports action next year for many colleges across Oregon.
