Are you planning on taking an Oregon Road Trip? If so, Oregon is a great place to hit the road because there are so many wonderful places to visit that each day will be an adventure.
During our next posts we will provide you with a “blueprint” for taking a road trip through the state of Oregon so you can also experience for yourself why Oregon is a beautiful state.
Day #1 – Portland
On the first day of your trip, we recommend visiting Portland because, assuming you’re visiting from out of state, you can easily fly into Portland from any destination in the world and have a fabulous city to explore.
Once you’re in the City of Roses and have checked into your hotel, the first thing you should do is grab a coffee at Barista, or one of the PDX areas awesome coffee shops then head out to explore the city.
The great thing about Portland is that it’s a walkable city that can easily enjoy on foot or using a service like Uber.
After getting your coffee there are so many things to see, you could start by stretching your legs at the Japanese Tea Garden, International Test Garden, Washington Park or the Museum of Art.
Lunch in Portland
Some great places to have lunch in Portland include Screen Door, Tasty n Alder, or one of the wide varieties of food carts on 5th avenue or 3rd avenue.
After lunch, head over to Powell’s City of Books to pick up something cool to read. They have a huge selection of hard to find books!
If you’re not into books, why not shop for knick-knacks or antiques? (You can always ship them back home!) Some cool antique shops to check out in the PDX area include Antique Alley and Stars Antique Mall.
Where to Have Dinner in Portland
By dinner time you should be ready for a nice meal and some R&R. If you want to dine at one of the PDX areas best restaurants you should check out OX Restaurant, Le Pigeon, Coquine or Paley’s Place Bistro and Bar.
That’s it for day one in Oregon! If you have questions about other places to stay, go or eat in Oregon during your road trip please leave us a comment or find us on Facebook by clicking here!
